The Pinzgau seems to be made for bike sport! Around the Zell am See-Kaprun region mountain bikers and pleasure bikers will find one of the most beautiful and varied bike areas in Austria. Whether challenging trail or idyllic dirt track - the unique natural landscapes between the glacier and Lake Zell ensure unforgettable biking experiences.
The Kaprun-Zell am See region boasts a varied network of mountain bike routes that leaves nothing to be desired. Hobby bikers explore the idyllic field paths and tranquil forest roads. There is also a wonderful family-friendly cycle path around Lake Zell.
Ambitious sportsmen and women will also tackle climbs to reach the beautiful alpine pastures. An important junction of various mountain bike tours is the Hundstein. The ride from Bruck over the Erlhofplatte to the summit and down to Thumersbach to Lake Zell is just one of the many possibilities open to bikers here.
The tour from Piesendorf to the Pinzgauhütte and the Hochsonnbergalm will bring you sunny moments. Here you will meet local mountain bikers who venture up to the ascents of more than 1,000 metres in altitude. The effort is rewarded with magnificent views and a hearty snack.
The Kitzsteinhorn is just as much game for uphill riders with a strong physical condition as it is for adrenalin-addicted freeriders and passionate Enduro bikers.
Three freeride trails inspire mountain bikers to peak performance on 12 kilometres and 1,500 metres of altitude difference. Starting point for downhillers is at the Alpine Centre on the Geißstein Trail. The route below the tree line on the Wüstlau Trail is technically more demanding. Once you arrive at the valley station, you can comfortably take the cable car up again.
For uphill bikers, the tour leads from the centre of Kaprun via the Maiskogel to the Alpine Centre at an altitude of 2,450 metres above sea level. The reward will be fantastic views of Lake Zell and a stop at the Gletschermühle restaurant. E-bikers will also find a free charging station here.
For a very special adrenalin kick, a trip to the Leogang Bikepark is an absolute must! Downhill riders, freeriders and mountain bikers will be taken directly to the lines of the first and largest bike park in Europe by the Asitzbahn or Steinbergbahn. While experienced bikers ride challenging world championship routes, children and beginners try their first jumps in the Riders' Playground.
